Brooklyn Indie Market Hosts Annual Shopping
Benefit for Brooklyn Community Housing and Services
Carroll
Gardens, Brooklyn-December 12 and 13 marks the third annual shopping benefit
sponsored by Brooklyn Indie Market,
an up and coming designers market. Indie designers donate 10-15% of sales to
benefit Brooklyn Community Housing and Services, committed to ending
homelessness in Brooklyn by providing safe, clean supportive housing each
year for nearly 700 women, children and men. Saturday and Sunday 11-7 support your community by shopping
local and know you are helping the homeless in Brooklyn. Take the F/G to the Carroll Street Station.
“We are extremely grateful that Brooklyn
Indie Market has chosen to help BCHS in its efforts to end homelessness in
Brooklyn,” says BCHS Executive Director Jeff Nemetsky. “The Market is a
shining example of how compassionate citizens are helping build socially rich
and economically vital communities in Brooklyn.”
Brooklyn
Community Housing and Services was
founded in 1978 as a grassroots response to the Carter Administration’s call
for the creation of community-based programs for the mentally ill. During
a 31 year history, BCHS has helped thousands who were in crisis achieve
independence, and are ready to help thousands more in the future – until the
day that homelessness no longer exists, and until the day that our local

We provide a connection between emerging designers and consumers,
retail buyers, stylists, personal shoppers and the press.
Our designers converge under the red and white striped tent on Smith
& Union Street, offering the public a first glimpse of the many new
names in fashion and product design.
The {NewNew}
is an eclectic group of independent handmade etsy artists, designers,
makers and crafters in the Metro New York area who are devoted to
fostering a creative and supportive environment among its members. The
group encourages a spirit of camaraderie through craftsmanship and
strives to help its members achieve success on both a personal and
professional level. Members come from many different backgrounds and
produce fine, handcrafted goods including clothing, home décor,
jewelry, accessories, paper goods, bath and body products, toys, and
baked goods. Everything is designed and produced locally by the
talented artists of The {NewNew}.
